Show hopes to empower full-figured women
Fashion event producer Charlene Meriedy sent atypical models in jaunty looks down the runway in her show Sunday at the Biscayne Bay Marriott Hotel and Marina.
''Real Women Shaping Style,'' was what she dubbed it.
''I'm trying to empower full-figured women into being confident,'' Meriedy said. ``We're putting a healthier twist to it at the same time.''
Meriedy selected clothes from specialty stores and local designers. Here's who she used: CG's Couture (7284 W Oakland Blvd., Lauderhill, 954-733-7101), Rosemary Designs (Rita De La Rosa, 1932 NE 151 St., North Miami, 305-354-2848); Lisa Todd (350 San Lorenzo Ave., Coral Gables, 305-448-0880), Toshiba Fashions (7966 Miramar Pkwy., Miramar 954-989-6644); Ashley Stewart (10996 NW Seventh Ave., Miami, 305-757-5356); Gilda Gevis (18785 Biscayne Blvd., Loehmann's Plaza, North Miami, 305-931-6692).
